Commerce Lake is actually two lakes - North Commerce Lake and South Commerce Lake.  Commerce Lake is not a public lake there is no public access.

Commerce Lake real estate

Commerce Lakefront homes for sale once sold for as high as 1.5 million dollars.  But in the 2009 the highest price was in the $300,000 range.  Most high end lake houses are not selling.  It's the lower priced lake homes that have been selling..  The lake is an nice all sports lake that has many varieties of  water front properties.  There are 600-5800 square foot lake homes around the lake.  Lower Straits Lake home styles are:

• bungalows
• cape cods
• colonial style homes
• ranches
• split levels

Most  Commerce Lake homes that were built in the 1920's and 30's are gone.   Yes there are a few remaining.   The older homes have been bulldozed and re built.  Most of the homes are from 1940 on.  The early homes have no basements on little lots and many times without garages.  But some of the later homes were built with walkout basements.    Most have garages if the lot size permitted it.  The upper end homes on the lake have all the modern ammenities, including 3 car garages.

Like most Oakland County MI Lakes there are not a lot of wide open spaces or privacy.  The homes are not widely spaced apart.

Commerce Lake Location

Commerce Lake is located in Commerce Township Oakland County MI.  It is West of S Commerce Lake Rd, South of Commerce Lake Rd, E of Bernstein Rd. and North of Oakley Park Rd.

The kids that live on the lake go to Walled Lake Schools.
